One fluid enters through a shell connection and flows through the open-edge channels around the plate pack.
The other fluid enters through a plate-side port and flows through the port-connected channels.
Heat passes through the thin metal plates from the hotter fluid to the colder fluid. The two streams remain separate and leave through their respective outlets.
