Client: Wuhan XX Refrigeration Industry Co., Ltd
Industrial ammonia refrigeration systems rely on a range of auxiliary heat exchangers to optimize efficiency, protect key components, and ensure stable long-term operation. Among these, economizers and oil coolers play a vital role in improving system performance and reliability.

For this project, plate & shell heat exchangers were supplied to Wuhan XX Refrigeration Industry Co., Ltd for use as ammonia economizers and oil coolers. The equipment is designed to operate reliably within industrial NH₃ refrigeration systems, supporting continuous operation under demanding pressure and temperature conditions.
The fully welded plate & shell construction provides a robust, gasket-free pressure boundary well suited for ammonia service. By eliminating elastomeric gaskets, the design reduces leakage risk and enhances safety—an essential consideration in ammonia-based refrigeration plants. The welded structure also ensures long-term mechanical integrity under repeated thermal cycling and load variations.
Chevron-pattern plate geometry creates strong turbulence on both the ammonia and secondary fluid sides, delivering high heat transfer efficiency in a compact design. As an economizer, this enables effective subcooling and improved system COP. When applied as an oil cooler, the same design ensures stable oil temperature control, protecting compressors and extending equipment service life.
Compared with conventional shell-and-tube economizers and oil coolers, plate & shell heat exchangers offer higher thermal efficiency, reduced footprint, and lower refrigerant charge. As a result, they provide a reliable, efficient, and space-optimized solution for auxiliary heat exchange duties in modern industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
